About Berber

My work explores contemporary expressions of womanhood, in strength, in softness, and in the tension that exists between the two.

Working in minimalist compositions with deliberate use of color, I examine how identity is perceived and how it can extend beyond expectation. The women I draw resist fixed definitions. They inhabit a space between vulnerability and presence, intimacy and autonomy. Inviting a slower, more attentive gaze.

My earlier portraits centered on androgyny, questioning the visual codes through which femininity is often read. That inquiry has evolved into a broader exploration of connection: women in shared stillness, in quiet proximity, in moments that hold both independence and relational depth. Rather than presenting ideals, I focus on presence, understated, self-contained, and complex.

Reduction is essential to my practice. By stripping each composition back to its core, the figure remains uninterrupted. Color functions as an emotional structure within that restraint, sometimes subtle, sometimes bold and sustaining the balance of softness and strength that defines my work.

Each drawing belongs to an ongoing body of work investigating how femininity can be seen with greater nuance and freedom. Whether as an original or a print, every piece is created to hold presence, quietly, but with conviction.

This exploration continues to evolve alongside my own understanding of connection, identity, and what it means to be seen.
